"Bösendorfer Grand Pianos are famous for their touching sound. But did you know, that Bösendorfer builds the grand piano of your dreams according to your design-wishes?"

For Architects, Designers and the Designer in You
Beyond the structural and musical substance of its fine instruments, Bösendorfer is offering unique and stunning custom cabinets. Rather than selecting an instrument from an inventory of current models, Bösendorfer encourages private customers with assistance from an interior designer or architect to custom-design the piano cabinet according to their taste and creativity, and to match or integrate existing interior elements.
In 2004 and 2005, Bösendorfer has hosted design competitions in Europe and Japan. The resulting piano cabinets are both unusual and stunning.

Bösendorfer's Perspective

The Austrian star architect Hans Hollein created this Bösendorfer piano in the 90s.
For nearly 180 years, Bösendorfer has worked extensively with architects and designers and has gained wide experience in this field. "We would like to make people aware that a piano has not necessarily to be a 'black box' but offers a high potential for design and individuality," says Andreas Kaufmann, Head of Bosendorfer International Sales.
Designing a customized piano is a highly creative opportunity. Giving consideration to piano exterior and cabinet piano are not only important for public spaces and performance halls but more so for private homes. Claudia Schubert of Bösendorfer Vienna, who authored the recent Bösendorfer "Design Guide for Architects and Designers," states: "I envision architects and designers to gain expert status in integrating piano cabinets into their surrounding spaces."
